Would Twilight and Little Ashes star Robert Pattinson make a good Harry Houdini?

Already known for his talented, methodical, and diverse approach to his craft, we recently discussed the career choices that Twilight, The Twilight Saga: New Moon, How To Be, and Little Ashes star Robert Pattinson has - and the fact that they are quite expansive, indeed.
Some fans mentioned the fact that they'd like to see Rob tackle a different role - in order to keep his resume increasing in breadth (and, as a result, strength and idealism). One such suggestion was that Pattinson become attached with a recent Summit Entertainment (studio responsible for the Twilight series films) acquisition, The Secret Life of Houdini. The film, which is projected to be based on a best-selling historical novel by William Kalush and Larry Sloman, is not supposed to be a biopic piece, but rather, says Summit Entertainment, "an action thriller featuring a character who is part Indiana Jones and part Sherlock Holmes."
Quite apart from his role as Edward Cullen in Twilight, and similar yet still quite distinct from his artistic parts in Little Ashes and How To Be, Rob as Harry Houdini would be quite interesting, indeed. Qualifying characteristics: mystery, intrigue, magic, and talent. Check, check, check, and check.
