Catherine Hardwicke, director of “Twilight“ is proud of her actors. Catherine Hardwicke, director of the vampire phenomenon "Twilight", will not be directing the sequel "New Moon," but she has not forgotten the actors that made her famous. At the Women In Film 2009 Crystal and Lucy Awards on Friday night, Hardwicke told Access Hollywood, "I'm so proud of the whole cast, they're all getting to do amazing movies. It's great." Hardwicke made it clear that she is most proud of returning star Taylor Lautner who plays Jacob Black. Jacob goes through a lot of physical changes in the sequel and producers were not sure if Lautner could bulk up enough for the role, but he did. "I think he looks amazing," she said. "He's totally worked hard for it so he looked great." "Twilight" stole the spotlight from "The Dark Knight" at the MTV Movie Awards on May 31, taking home the award for Best Fight. "That was pretty cool. We beat Batman and all those movies. I was pretty proud of that," Hardwicke told MTV. With a box office debut of $69 million, the film also broke the biggest opening ever for a woman director and Hardwicke hopes to inspire other women directors. "Only seven percent of the movies are directed by women, which is kind of crazy," she said. "Women go to the movies and they love the films and they're amazing actors so, you know, we need to change that."
