Robert Pattinson talks True Blood Audition, Zac Efron and More!

Last month, True Blood star Stephen Moyer caused an uproar when he referred to Robert Pattinson as the "Diet Coke of vampires," among other, even less flattering descriptions.
It turns out, based on a new interview, that Moyer was insulting an actor that came oh-so-close to being his co-star.
What do we mean? Read through the following Pattinson excerpts to find out...

On prior attempts to act like a vampire: "I did an audition for True Blood, but that didn't work out. I didn't think I would get the role of Edward Cullen, either, because the character is very enigmatic. I didn't want to play the biggest vampire stereotype, so I tried to humanize him."

On Zac Efron: "We met at an awards show. He's the new face of success. But he's all the opposite of what I thought he would be. He's so honest and down to earth. You'd think he's so prepared for the press, but he's not."

On his fans: "They are increadibly opinionated. They have very clear ideas as to how I should live my life. Who knew 15-year olds could be so moralistic?"

On meeting Kristen Stewart: "In the beginning I thought: 'She's so serious, so I have to be very serious too.' And I went on without talking to her for like two weeks. She must have thought I was stuck up. I only spoke to her about the movie, other movies, books, serious stuff. But I felt like an idiot. I dropped the act and we got along great."

The frenzied girl drama surrounding Robert Pattinson continues to grow after it emerged his girlfriend has been targeted by hate mail from jealous female fans.
R-Patz's Twilight co-star Kristen Stewart was branded 'heartless' after she was linked to Will & Grace actor Michael Angarano.
'Kristen has had letters from girls who don't think she's treating Rob fairly because she's dating Michael Angarano' a US insider claims.

'The fans love Rob, and they love the idea of Kristen and Rob romancing off-screen. But they don't like the idea that she might be hurting their favourite young actor by stringing him along while she is still dating Michael.'
'The letters, which are being sent to the studio, accuse Kristen of being heartless by dating both guys,' claims the source.
'Kristen cares very much for Michael, but she also has a crush on Rob', the source says.
The threats cap a miserable week for the two co-stars after Stewart, 19, has been dogged by pregnancy rumours.
Meanwhile, Pattinson, 23, is said to be tiring of being mobbed by obsessive girls while in New York and wants to come home to Britain.

Twilight star Robert Pattinson is a man of mystery.
For all the attention he gets, there's still much we don't know about the man who plays Edward Cullen.
But where the actor is a little more comfortable opening up - ironically - is whenever it comes time to film a love scene.
Especially with Kristen Stewart.
According to Pattinson himself in Twist magazine:
"I always get carried away when I'm kissing. I just go nuts! Walking away after it is the strangest moment for me. It's embarrassing - not knowing what to say to each other."
Pattinson and Stewart are planning to do a lot more kissing this summer. The 3rd Twilight film, Eclipse, will begin filming in August.

VANCOUVER - Good looking, fine actor and - could it get any better? Yup, Robert Pattinson is also a mensch.

Pattinson has commissioned his 26-year-old ex to paint for him. The artist told Life & Style: "Rob is still a really good friend of mine... I gave him my paintings when we lived together in London and now he’s commissioned me to paint one for him."

According to reports, Stewart has split from longtime boyfriend Michael Angarano, and is being linked to her on-screen love interest Pattinson.
Both Pattinson and Stewart, who are now working together again for the sequel 'New Moon", have claimed that they are just close friends and co-stars. And Pattinson's aunt Diana Nutley hopes that things stay that way and the love rumours are false. "I don't think it would be a good idea for Robert to be in a serious relationship with Kristen. How can he live his life with a fellow star, with their every move being watched just like Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes?" Contactmusic quoted her as telling U.S. magazine Life and Style.Instead, Nutley, who is the sister of Pattinson's mother, wants that her famous nephew will make the most of his overnight super fame and have fun."He's only 23 and probably won't get married until he's 40, if he's got any sense," she added.She is also hoping that the actor eventually settles down with an English girl. It was recently reported that the Twilight hunk — who is currently in the Big Apple filming his new movie Remember Me — had been “constantly calling” Stewart, who is in L.A., working on The Runaways, a rock biopic in which she portrays music legend Joan Jett.
“It’s no secret that their relationship has been heating up these past few months,” a source close to the couple — who recently completed Twilight sequel New Moon — told OK! magazine. “They are attracted to each other, and there is definitely something very special going on between them.”
“Rob is constantly texting and calling Kristen to ‘check in’,” the source added.
“He’s invited her and their New Moon co-star Dakota Fanning to fly to New York and hang out with him and his friends some weekend — his treat.”

The claim is that Kristen reportedly "flipped out" after seeing pictures of Robert Pattinson kissing Emilie de Ravin during shooting for their new movie. Robert, 23, and Emilie, 27, are shooting Remember Me, and Robert's Twilight co-star Kristen, whom he is rumoured to be dating, was allegedly not impressed at their kissing scenes.
A source close to the pair said: "She [Kristen] knows screen kisses are part of Rob's job, but it doesn't make things easier, seeing sexy photos of him and Emilie in full liplock." A pal of Robert's added: "Kristen saw a photo of them kissing and flipped out." Onlookers at the beach, where Emilie and Robert filmed the scenes, said the pair appeared to enjoy filming the scenes. "They're definitely getting close - you can tell it's more than a work relationship." It is claimed the pair have been spending time together off-screen as well and were said to have visited the swanky Soho House on a break from shooting. An onlooker said: "They spent a lot of time telling jokes, laughing and whispering in each other's ears." The onlooker added: "At one point Emilie took Robert's Ray-Bans and was playfully wearing them before putting them back in his shirt pocket - it was very flirty. Rob was so sweet and attentive; if I didn't know anything about him, I would think Emilie was his girlfriend!"

"He was smiling and laughing and just having a good time with his friends," said one onlooker who spotted Pattinson recently at the intimate, low-ceilinged bar. "He seemed really relaxed and didn't seem to worry about the people around him."
Escaping the CrowdsWhether it's over dinner at the Bowery Hotel or toasting a friend's birthday at another East Village lounge, Cabin, Pattinson is always reliably playful. "He's in great spirits," says a source, despite the mayhem he faces every afternoon when fans crowd around the Remember Me set. "He's like the guy that everyone wants to hang out with." Twilight costar Kristen Stewart is currently filming in L.A., but Pattinson is hardly lacking for potential leading ladies in New York. The actor has been hanging out with actress pal Camilla Belle – the pair had drinks June 17 – and spending time with Remember Me costar Emilie de Ravin: The onscreen couple smooched for the cameras all morning on the Rockaway Beach set of their film June 19. Then, according to a source on the set, they retreated to the same trailer between set changes.
'Something Romantic'Earlier this month, Pattinson was seen at a bar with friends, but was paying special attention to a petite blonde who spoke with a foreign accent. "They sat next to each and he was leaning close to her," recalls one observer. "They were whispering to each other the entire night. It seemed clear that he was into her." Pattinson often headed over to the bar and ordered drinks for the table – until it came time to move on. Pattinson and his lady friend left holding hands and hopped a cab together. If you've been dreaming of snuggling up to your very own version of Edward Cullen every now and then, well, it looks like you’re very much in luck.
Mattel has created its own Edward Cullen Ken doll, with “shimmering complexion” and “trademark gold eyes,” in homage to the Twilight character.
If it’s your thing, you can order a Bella Swan Barbie, too.
Toys “R” Us recommends the dolls for people ages 6-7 years, but given the vastness of the Twilight universe, expect big sales among people 6-27.
Just try to keep the squealing to a reasonable volume.

Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart's characters from Twilight have been immortalized in Barbie form. Get them while they last. Go on. It's okay, we won't tell anyone.
As for the actors that play Edward and Bella, they have been romantically linked of late, with some reports even saying they are obsessed with each other.
They are on opposite ends of the U.S., though, with Kristen filming The Runaways in L.A. and Rob kissing Emilie de Ravin on the NYC set of Remember Me.

ABC got the chance to interview “New Moon” and “Twilight stars Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson back in December of 2008, a month after “Twilight” was released. They talk to them for about seven and a half minutes in this video. Kristen and Rob first explained how they just feel outside of all the fame that has come about by the movie. They said they feel like they really had nothing to do with it. They are just actors in it.
Kristen then explains her character Bella Swan and what she’s all about. Next, Robert explains indepth about his Edward Cullen character,and what his situation is, mentally. Then they explain how they felt when people thought they shouldn’t play the characters when they were first cast for the parts. They talk about when Kristen was auditioning four guys to play Edward Cullen at the director Katherine Hardwicke’s house.
She said she was really disappointed in most of them,and didn’t know why they were even there. Rob goes onto explain that he had to audition the meadow scene with Kristen Stewart at Katherine Hardwicke’s house. The video concludes with them explaining how it was always sort of difficult to shoot the scenes.

For Rob and Kristen form two sides of a compelling love triangle: Kristen is evidently still involved with her longtime boyfriend, actor Michael Angarano, and as OK! reported last week, Rob wants that romantic geometry simplified, one way or the other, no later than October, when he and Kristen start filming the third Twilight movie, Eclipse. Though Rob is giving Kristen a few months to choose between suitors, he’s not giving her a lot of rope. “Rob is constantly texting and calling Kristen to ‘check in,’ ” the source says. “He’s invited her and their New Moon co-star Dakota Fanning to fly to New York and hang out with him and his friends some weekend — his treat.”

Robert Pattinson "kiss was Kristen's idea"

Robert Pattinson had no idea Kristen Stewart wanted to kiss him at the MTV Movie Awards.
It was Kristen's idea to have Rob go to kiss her when they collected their award and for her to pull away.
Rob revealed all to ET. Twilight fans are going to love the extended behind-the-scenes video which reveals 5 New Moon secrets.
It also includes Kristen Stewart, Taylor Lautner and Stephenie Meyer talking about New Moon.
Rob even jokes that if he had to pick Edward or Jacob for his sister's date he would pick Edward.
He said: "Edward's wealthier! (laughs)"
