the examiner: sam bradley interview

"An album is coming . . ." says Sam Bradley's MySpace page.
Sam Bradley, co-author of the Twilight album's "Never Think (Too Far Gone)" and absolute credit to this generation of music (as are his long-time friends Marcus Foster and Bobby Long), is still in "the mixing process" of creating his first album.
But that doesn’t mean that there aren’t plenty of goings-on for fans of this highly ambitious and creative talent.
I spoke to Sam, who has been "working like a dog," and we discussed what the future has in store for him. For one, his list of up-coming venues has just lengthened. Most recently added are his shows in Los Angeles, California on May 25th and 26th of this year, and one at the Hotel Cafe in L.A. on June 5th at Whiskey a Go-Go.
Also, when Sam makes it to Vancouver, his fans will be treated to a very special charity show. Says Sam, "I am really looking forward to the [show] because the venue that I'm playing at is really, really good . . . It's a really cool venue, and, when I moved here, it was a dream." Continues Sam, "I really like the charity that I'm doing it for as well. I'm pretty happy about that. It's raising quite a bit of awareness already. . . I mean, it's such a small charity that she literally sells jewelry in the lock market, and that's, I think, how it sort of all started, the funding . . . I've never done anything like this before." It seems, then, that those lucky enough to see Sam Bradley in Vancouver will bear witness to a dream come true.
Ever better news for attendants of the show in Vancouver? I asked Sam if he'd have any of his music available for sale at any of his shows, and he said that "there will be some stuff" for the one in Vancouver. Just what? "I have an old EP," says Sam, “that I did when I was like eighteen . . . nineteen . . . It was when I first started . . . Some of it is up on the MySpace as well, like ‘You Think You're Free' and 'Is Love Enough,' and so I do have an EP with six songs that I have like twenty-five left [of], maybe a few more, actually, maximum fifty left." Sam says that he'll probably be selling them for around five dollars at the show in Vancouver.
As for the rest of us? Well, I asked Sam if he and Robert Pattinson were up to anything together in Vancouver (while Rob films The Twilight Saga: New Moon with co-stars Kristen Stewart, Taylor Lautner, Nikki Reed, Kellan Lutz, Ashley Greene, Peter Facinelli, Jackson Rathbone, and the rest of the cast), and he said that "yeah, we've written a really good song.”
I asked him whether he might be submitting his work for the The Twilight Saga: New Moon soundtrack, and Sam says that while he “could” submit something for consideration, he doesn’t “have anything to submit just yet because if [he] was to submit anything it would need to be at a further level than where it’s at right now.” Only time will tell, Twilight fans.
I also asked Sam if Rob, Marcus Foster, or Bobby Long ever made it up to Paris, France with him to sing back-up for him, and he said (jokingly, of course) that “they were supposed to, and they’re all far too unorganized, and it didn’t happen.” Says Sam, “I’m very disappointed with them all, but it’s okay because it’s not going to stop here. There will be plenty of opportunities down the road.” As Sam Bradley’s number continues to rise, and he embarks upon his stellar journey as an international touring singer/song-writer, that is surely to be true.
As far as his up-coming album goes, there is no official release date, but what we can know, says Sam, is that “well, there are some songs that I have redone, like ‘Too Far Gone.’” Also, the album will feature guest writers such as Robert Pattinson (for his co-authorship of ‘Too Far Gone’) and Sam’s mother, whose song, Sam says, “she wrote with a few other people in England.”
As for the title of the album? It is difficult to choose, says Sam. “I’ve been playing with a few different options to tie it in with some of the song titles.” Yet, “I’m kind of a little bit nervous to name the album. I almost don’t want to,” says Sam. “I don’t want to be judged too early by someone who may not have heard my music . . . So, I could just pick something that’s completely left and irrelevant, but I don’t think that’s really the point of what I’m doing.” A self-titled album sounds pretty good, though, don’t you think?
Although it is uncertain as to when the as-yet-untitled-album will be released, attendants of Sam Bradley’s shows are in for a treat. I asked Sam if he’ll be playing any of the songs we haven’t heard yet at his shows, and he said “yes I will. I will be playing them.”
So, as Sam Bradley’s list of up-coming tours continues to grow, and as the album nears completion, his fans have a lot to look forward to this year. After tomorrow's show in Vancouver Island, Sam will be appearing in Toronto next week (April 16th) followed by his two-day stint in Nashville, Tennessee alongside none other than the incredible Bobby Long. An up-to-date list of Sam’s confirmed shows are listed below, but fans should keep an eye on Sam Bradley’s MySpace and Twitter pages to stay current.
