Twilight sensation Robert Pattinson finds his newfound fame overwhelming. "Living in L.A., there are lots of people who are obsessed with Twilight books and characters, and when they come up to you, they're terrifying," Rob, 22, tells Glamour UK.
Overnight celebrity can be daunting for anyone, but especially for someone like Pattinson, who's said to be reserved, modest and has admitted to being an introvert.
"I'm a bit of a loner and not that good with dealing with loads of people," Rob has said. "Most of the time, going out is a complete waste of time. I'd rather stay in and create something than go out."
Nonetheless, the British heartthrob has earned a reputation for being nice and friendly to his fans. For now, Rob and his co-stars Kristen Stewart, 18, and Taylor Lautner, 17, are in Vancouver shooting New Moon, the sequel to Twilight. With huge fan expectations and an accelerated production schedule, New Moon is being rushed out to hit theaters in November.
And while Pattinson's Edward Cullen character played a relatively small role in the book New Moon, his role in the film will be expanded to please the franchise's legions of Rob Pattinson fans. In fact, Rob's castmates recently confirmed that he'll play a major role in New Moon.
"Of course they threw Rob in there!" exclaims Ashley Greene, who plays vampire Alice Cullen. "He comes in as a flittering image to tell Bella not to do anything reckless. You have him at the beginning at school, at the party, when he’s saying goodbye to Bella and in Italy as well, so his fans will get their fix!" she adds.
Meanwhile, Disney teen starlet Miley Cyrus recently made headlines when she proclaimed that—gasp!!—she like, totally, doesn't get Rob's appeal.
"I'm not a huge Rob Pattinson fan," said Cyrus, 16. "Girls aren't really in love with Rob; they're in love with [his film character] Edward."
Um...okay, Miley. What's there to like about Rob anyway? Nothing, if you're turned off by good looks, talent, money, fame, modesty and good manners.
New Moon comes out in November.
